Many mothers in the Pacific want to help their children succeed at school but feel they are unable to due to their own lack of schooling or low literacy levels. As part of the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) project we developed a visual aid to remind mothers how they help their children by talking with them. School requires children to be “information givers” and by asking questions, engaging in conversations and extending children’s responses, mothers can help their children become “information givers.” The mini posters are printed on A4 paper and laminated. There are English and Tok Pisen versions. We are currently piloting them in four provinces in Papua New Guinea.
